Eagle Harbor is the community that forever changed every one that would follow in the Jacksonville area. With a developer’s motto, “Why can’t you live in a resort year round,” the first class amenities brought a whole new definition of what the Jacksonville lifestyle would be. Eagle Harbor is one of the most beautiful planned communities, winning many coveted awards, until they stopped entering to give others a chance to win. Just drive through and you will see. Here is a brief History of Eagle Harbor.
Eagle Harbor has over 2,800 homes and was so popular that the developers ran out of room and bought land in other locations on Fleming Island to satisfy the demand. There is the original Eagle Harbor, located north of County Road 220, Black Creek at Eagle Harbor, located off Old Hard Road, Eagle Cove, located off of Pine Avenue, Pine Lake, south of County Road 220, and Stone Creek, located off Highway 17. Eagle Harbor has two attached home communities, Pine Lake and Stone Creek, and one condominium community, The Enclave. Home prices in Eagle Harbor range from the $90,000s for a townhouse in Pine Lake to estate homes on navigable water on Doctors Lake that are selling in the $800,000s as of Summer 2011.
Recreation in Eagle Harbor includes three water parks, golf, dining in the newly remodeled Talon’s restaurant, tennis, playgrounds throughout the neighborhoods, basketball, nature walks, Clay County soccer fields, and five day docks for resident boats or visiting boats. A full time Activities Director plans many events throughout the year, including the July 4th and Christmas Parades. The tennis program is arguably the finest in Northeast Florida. If tennis is your game, you have found your home! The Screamin’ Eagles Swim Team is extremely competitive and wins competitions on a regular basis. There is an Adults Only heated pool that is open year round with early morning swim times. In the late fall, the pool is shared with all Eagle Harbor residents when the other swim parks close. The Community magazine is published monthly and delivered to each resident.
Eagle Harbor is the only community in Clay County that has permission to drive golf carts on the streets. It’s a great way to pick up the kids from school!
Schools are the A-rated Fleming Island area schools, and include Fleming Island Elementary, a Blue Ribbon School, Lakeside Junior High, and Fleming Island High School. Kids can walk and bike to Fleming Island Elementary, which is located in Eagle Harbor at the corner of Eagle Harbor Parkway and Lakeshore Drive.
